Version History

Major releases are numbered with four digits and a decimal point (e.g., 11.1, 10.1, 9.2). Minor releases (such as 11.1.1) are not numbered and often contain many bug fixes.

The earliest version of AutoCAD is 1.0. From 1982 through 1995, all AutoCAD releases consisted of multiple versions with incremental version numbers. From 1996 to 2001, AutoCAD was divided into three versions:

Autodesk Suite — which includes Autocad

AutoCAD — which includes DWG and DWF

AutoCAD LT — which includes DWF, DWI, and DXF

Autodesk Suite and Autodesk Sketchbook are the primary versions of AutoCAD. Autocad and AutoCAD LT are the primary versions of AutoCAD.

AutoCAD DWG is the primary version of DWG. Autocad DWG is the primary version of DWG.

AutoCAD is the primary version of DWF, which is the primary version of DWF.

AutoCAD LT is the primary version of DXF, which is the primary version of DXF.

The versions of Autocad, Autocad DWG, Autocad LT, and AutoCAD DWF are available with or without extensions. (See the software versions table for more information.)

When an Autocad, Autocad DWG, Autocad LT, or AutoCAD DWF license expires, an upgrade is required to continue using the software.

AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and AutoCAD DWG are sold on a subscription basis. The customer, not Autodesk, is responsible for paying the subscription fee. (The AutoCAD Suite, which includes Autocad, is sold only on a perpetual license basis; this model allows unlimited use.)

AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and AutoCAD DWG subscriptions are $499, $699, and $959, respectively. (Annual subscription renewals are usually discounted.) Additional licenses are $249, $399, and $689. License keys are sold separately for all versions of AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and AutoCAD DWG.

AutoCAD 2017 (in beta at the time of writing this) is available to customers on a

The ObjectARX library is used to create add-on applications, called ARX (autocad Add-Ons), by which features of AutoCAD can be programmed. The ARX application is a platform independent COM (component object model) application. The ObjectARX library consists of a number of.DLL files and a COM library called oarx.aoc for the COM application.

What are the reasons for the existence of inherited constructors in C++?

I am familiar with multiple constructors in a class in C++. I know they can be called using new in a function, and I know that they can be overriden in the definition of a class.
I am wondering if there are any reasons for having inherited constructors as well. For example, if I have a class, that uses some kind of strategy pattern, then I could have something like this (this is pseudo-code):
class Base {
virtual void someFunction(strategy strategy) = 0;

class StrategyA : public Base {
StrategyA() : Base() { someFunction(strategyA); }
void someFunction(strategy strategy) {

class StrategyB : public Base {
StrategyB() : Base() { someFunction(strategyB); }
void someFunction(strategy strategy) {

class MyClass {
MyClass(strategy strategy) {
Base b;
